On the day of Pentecost, Peter preached: ‘Repent, and that every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ’ (Acts 2:38). In other words, except Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. ‘Put aside your old ways of living and all your efforts to be holy by your own strength. Abandon the facade of being a religious person and put on Christ. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, because the promise is for you! ‘

According to Scripture, three thousand souls were added to the Church that day—three thousand clergy, doing their best to be holy on their own, three thousand people who may have been tired of trying to do it religiously on they own merit. So, what must we do to receive this power from God today? After all, we really need this to face the days ahead.

First we need to get back to God’s plan for our lives on this Earth: to be living witnesses of who He is, which requires humility because we will be mocked and ridiculed. Yet no matter what anyone thinks. There must be a resolution in our hearts that says, ‘I don’t care what this will cost. I want this new life, this strength to walk with God and I will not settle for lukewarm. ‘

It’s a choice we all must make. Remember that the promise of the Holy Spirit is for you, for your children, for the young, for the old, for the educated, for the uneducated, for the strong, for the weak. Do you really want it – and the lifestyle that comes with it?

If you want Him, I encourage you to go before the Lord with humility and ask Him to fulfill His great promise to you. Wish John the Baptist spoke of in Mt 3: 11. He will be faithful to His word, and baptise you with the Holy Spirit and Fire. SHALOM in Jesus Almighty name Amen.
